Adding a clap to a dance move gives it a little more necessary sass and spunk. Or, it could also apply to any situation you encounter in life.
Think about it.
A clap is a hand-act of acceptance.
Instead of reacting to things the same old, trained ways (bitterness, anger, fear, worry…) and instead of running away from something uncomfortable, another healthier alternative (in addition to meditation) is to embrace whatever you’re faced with right on the spot, no matter how crappy or stinky or horrible it may be – and literally applaud it. Think of it as another way of applauding and accepting yourself.
Clapping is the age-old, universal, palms-together act of approval. So, when you strike your palms together you’re essentially striking any situation in your life with a giant YES, I APPROVE OF THIS-jolt, a sonic boom of positive, unconditionally-loving energy.
How do I do that?
But-but-but-but what if people don’t like me?
Even if I have to accept something I don’t like?
Yup. Try it…
It’s like the great pianist Arthur Rubenstein once said,
So what if life brings you lemons? Clap those hands. And then don’t just make lemonade, make a gosh-darn successful lemonade empire.
What if life trips you and you fall on the dance floor of all your hopes and dreams? Enjoy the view down there, and then get right up and ADD A CLAP TO IT. Clap when no one else is clapping and keep on dancing on.
Say “THANK YOU” for this situation, because you’re still alive and breathing. Smile. Keep going and doing your best, just as you are, because you’re more than VICIOUS.
