Kwanza Jones brings SUPERCHARGED energy to KJLH Radio

Recently, the Queen of Energy, Kwanza Jones, joined Adai Lamar of Radio Free KJLH Radio to discuss the vision behind Culture In Motion™, the national arts and empowerment roadshow she created.

The interview was a moment of visibility, but more importantly, it was about momentum, courage, and the power of people stepping up to move culture forward.

And in true SUPERCHARGED fashion, the conversation was a reminder that culture doesn’t just entertain us. It moves us.

A Full-Circle Moment

For Kwanza, appearing on KJLH carried special meaning.

Years ago, the station was the first to play her song “Everything Around You” on the radio. That hometown support from Los Angeles helped propel the song into national rotation and onto platforms like BET, MTV, and VH1.

Returning to KJLH years later, this time to talk about the cultural platform she created, was a reminder of what happens when community believes in possibility.

That same spirit is what Culture In Motion is designed to ignite across the country.

The Vision Behind Culture In Motion

As the architect, founder, and executive producer of Culture In Motion, Kwanza designed the platform with a bold but simple idea:

What if the culture didn’t wait for people to come to it?
What if the culture came to the people?

The world-famous Apollo Theater in Harlem has long been one of the most iconic stages in music and performance history, launching the careers of artists who shaped generations, from Stevie Wonder to Lauryn Hill and beyond. But Culture In Motion takes that legacy beyond one building and into communities nationwide. Instead of traveling to Harlem to experience The Apollo, the roadshow brings the experience to you.

Through the SUPERCHARGED Boost Bus™, an important aspect of the roadshow, the spirit of The Apollo, its courage, creativity, and cultural legacy, moves across the country. It creates new spaces where people can connect with the culture and with each other.

This is the essence of Culture In Motion. It’s not just about honoring history. It’s about continuing it.

The Courage to Use Your Voice

During the interview, Kwanza reflected on performing at The Apollo earlier in her career. For her, the lesson wasn’t just about winning or losing Amateur Night.

It was about something deeper: The courage to step onto the stage. And not just the literal stage. Kwanza said, "The stage might be a boardroom, a community gathering, a creative opportunity, or a conversation that needs to happen."

You have a voice. You have space. You deserve to be heard.

That spirit of courage and possibility is exactly what Culture In Motion is designed to activate.

Culture Is an Energy Exchange

During the conversation, Kwanza described the Culture In Motion experience as an “energy exchange.” When communities come together around music, storytelling, creativity, and shared history, something powerful happens.

People reconnect to:

  • Identity
  • Culture
  • Possibility
  • Each Other

That’s why the Culture In Motion activations are intentionally designed to be multigenerational, creating space for families, artists, creatives, entrepreneurs, and community members to gather, celebrate, and build together.

More Than a Moment

The journey is still unfolding.

Across cities and communities, the roadshow is creating new spaces where people can connect with The Apollo’s legacy while also writing the next chapter of cultural history together.

And that’s the real point. Not just visibility. Participation. Not just a show. A platform. Not just a moment. Momentum.

Stay Connected to the Movement

The conversation on KJLH offered a glimpse into what Kwanza is building through culture.

But the journey is just getting started.
