Take Control of Your Life

How to Conquer Self-Doubt and Take Control of Your Life

Hey there, SUPERCHARGED fam! Thanks for tuning back into Successful at SUPERCHARGED for our third episode. You know what they say...third time's a charm! This episode, featuring our Social Media Manager Walé Oyerinde, is more than just charming. It's the real down-to-earth inspiration you've been craving all week long.

And since Boost Friends are #RealFriends, let's cut to the chase. Has there ever been a time in your life, even at this very moment, where you've felt paralyzed by self-doubt and you somehow needed to take control of your life? It's like you can see the finish line, but your mind is telling you to quit the race anyway. If that sounds like you, don't be ashamed. We've all #BeenThere #DoneThat. Our very own Social Media Manager is ready to spill the tea about all the times he locked his self-doubts away in a box and threw away the key.

Focus on What You Can Control. Release What You Can't.

We're #Blessed that Walé held nothing back in this episode. He laid it all out on the table for you, Boost Friend. From growing up with limited opportunities to pursue his passion as a fashion photographer to being diagnosed with Ptosis, an eye condition that impaired his physical appearance, Walé is no stranger to facing challenges. Nevertheless, at a young age, Walé learned he could take his power back by shifting his perspective.

In this episode, Walé talks about not knowing exactly how he'd achieve his dream of being a fashion stylist and photographer, but there certainly was one thing he did know: focus on what you can control instead of the things you can’t. Although he couldn't cure his eye condition, he could control his mindset overall. And even though he couldn't control how people saw him or what they would say about him, he could write his own story and control how he saw himself.

Don't worry about “the how” and don't make decisions that don't feel true to you.

Walé chose to be a fashion photographer and stylist because he liked making others feel good. And in turn, he only made big career moves that felt good to him. The moral of the story? Don't worry about “the how” and don't make decisions that don't feel true to you. Simply commit to your passion and make choices that you vibe with...and the rest is sure to fall into place.
By focusing on the ways he could make himself and others feel good, Walé took control over his own life and became his own success story. Are you ready to do the same?

How exactly do you take control of your life?

Ok ok, we know you're not in school anymore, but that doesn't mean we can't give you a little self-love assignment. In the words of Walé: "The journey to becoming successful at SUPERCHARGED actually started with my desire to become successful in life." Walé was able to do that by taking control of his life and crafting his own story. So, Boost Friends, now it's time for us to turn it over to you.
What have you been writing lately? Have you let other people in your life write that story for you? If so, it’s time to let yourself be the main character.

Since you're the author, only you have the answer. But remember... there's no time like the present to start creating the life you want and deserve. In fact, Boost Friends, we'd like you to think of this as a #PersonalGrowthChallenge.
Start today by examining the chapters you've already written in your life story. What was life like for you last year? Where are you now? How do you want to level up in the future?

It's not enough just to answer these questions in your head. You've got to write them down, and let them be your guide. Did you know that just by writing something down you're 40% more likely to achieve it? That's right, Boost Friends, before we hit you with Successful at SUPERCHARGED Episode 4, you've got some work to do.

So what are you waiting for?  The quicker you start writing out your story, the quicker you can make it a reality.
